About

WHO ARE WE? -- The Upper Chesapeake Council of the Good Medicine Society. Vision: To be of service of the Great Spirit, to all things of Mother Earth, wherever we gather together, whether mineral, plant, animal or human; while honoring all that is good in the heavens.

Mission: The Upper Chesapeake Council of the Good Medicine Society is a community based action group that brings solace learning and comfort through educational courses and seminars in the spiritual context of traditional Cherokee, Amerind, and Christian teachings.

The Upper Chesapeake Council is a branch of the internationally known Good Medicine Society. Our Charter was earned from GMS headquarters in Arkansas in 2001, and were State recognized in 2003. We are a group of individuals of Amerind descent, or those who follow the Red Road.

The Great Spirit calls us at this time to repair, restore or build a new Red Road in our lives, and the lives we touch. There is an old Apache saying: "May the thunder in your mouth, match the lightning in your hands." Even though we are a small group now, Christ tells us that faith the size of a mustard seed can move a mountain. We are seeking a local building in which to work and teach, that would also hold a small Amerind cultural museum and library. We can not have a future if we can not remember our past. We have more work to do ahead of us and can do it with your help. Grandfather gave us the responsibility to take care of Turtle Island, and how to be wise in our dealings with Mother Earth.

HOW CAN WE HELP ONE ANOTHER? We are a recognized Maryland chartered Church with a community outreach. We are seeking our Federal Non-profit status.

We offer the community: Animal rescue, emergency medical services, helping the sick, elderly, disabled, homeless, addiction rehabilitation, food and clothing distribution, educational programs, research library, prison ministry, aid to Native American reservations. We do what we can, where needed. Help us make a difference.

Donations of volunteer time and financial aid would be welcomed to help in our work.
If you would like more information or find out how to help please e-mail us.
